In the context of medieval Galicia, from the XIth century we are witnessing a process of promoting urban realities since the real power and local domains in a territory traditionally devoid of them in the early medieval centuries. This has been studied in recent decades, but recent years have seen a proliferation of articles and books that requires an updating historiography. This paper discusses this phenomenon in a diachronic and informative way and incorporate the latest relevant publications.
