A Documentary Review of the Work by the Sculptor Agustín Baamonde during the 18th Century in the Diocese of Lugo

The present documentary review offers a global perspective of the work by the sculptor from Lugo, Agustín Baamonde, during the 18th century in the Diocese of Lugo. Working in the libraries and archives of Lugo has made it possible to discover a collection of documents linked to this master who, since his arrival at the Cathedral of Lugo in 1737, was able to settle into the profession and undertake important works in that church, such as the altarpiece of Saint Catherine (1764). His undertakings outside the cathedral were noteworthy thanks to works such as the altarpiece of the main chapel of the Convent of San Jacinto in Monforte de Lemos (1761) or the altarpiece canopy of the Ecce Homo in the Chapel of the Venerable Orden Tercera of Lugo (1769), and he was regarded as the main sculptor of the diocese in that time period.
