The cohors II Asturum et Callaecorum was recruited in the last years of the Augustan period or during the early years of Tiberian rule, their first soldiers being most probably trained in the camp of the legio X Gemina (or in VI Victrix). Its history, as military diplomas show, is linked to Panonian territory, where it occupied the following camps: Bantina, Lugio and Brigetio. A prefect and a soldier are among its known members. It disappeared as a cohors in the final years of the 2nd century.
