With the present article we try to contribute to the knowledge of the architectural work of Domingo Rodriguez Sesmero in Galice during the last thirty years of the XIX th century. It is his work as a diocesan architect of Tui and Santiago de Compostela which we study here, in the context of the process of recovering of the religious architecture in Spain during the political period of the restoration of the Spanish monarchy. We focus the study from the stylistic point of view, attending to the movement of historicism caracteristic of that period in Europe, Spain and Galice. We analyse aswell the aspects regarding architectural preservation and restoration in Galice and it's relation with european models.
